Prototype

First impressions are everything, so with flavourly, the aim was to connect with the user as seamlessly as possible. A bright, friendly colour palette guides the user through each screen while the app focuses on collecting basic information (such as topics of interest) before diving deeper on each selected topic to deliver news articles that the user would actually be interested in.

The "Roll"

flavourly provides the user with two ways of consuming news: The "Roll", and the "Platter." The "Roll" delivers top 5 articles that appear in the user's dashboard everyday. It doesn't overload the user with information, and mainly caters to the working class that can only spare a few minutes of their time to catch up on news that most international outlets don't give much attention to.

The "Platter"

This option focuses more on the user's selected topics of interest, and gives them more freedom to navigate the app. There is an option in the menu to browse the categories individually so the user can decide which one they want to focus on at the moment, or if they want to switch to a different category. This option is catered to those who have more time to spare and want to explore various topics more in-depth.

The Roll-Back

This feature entices users to venture further into the world of flavourly. A way to go back in time and see what articles were trending at the time is something that only exists in the form of the Wayback Machine, or website caches, but wouldn't it be interesting if an app could perfom that function as well? That's the concept for the "Roll-Back."

Returning Users

Of course, once a user has gone through the initial welcoming screens, they will be asked to create an account so their settings and selections can be saved. That way, the next time they open the app, they can login and go directly to their news.
