Topbox Marketing, in partnership with London Drugs Ltd.
Role: Art Director / Designer
I was asked to design a box called the "Baby Welcome Package" in order to entice customers to go onto the London Drugs Ltd. website to sign up for their newsletter so they could receive the box as a complementary gift. The box was also later put on store shelves to be sold.
The design was intended to target expecting women, and so the client wanted the box design to convey a sense of playfulness, and to reflect the pride and joy that came with welcoming a baby into the family.
I began with some basic sketches, drawing inspiration from baby packaging of all kinds. I gravitated to common baby-friendly imagery such as pastel-coloured hot air balloons amidst some puffy clouds, simple patterns such as stripes. I also included items commonly found around babies such as a pacifier, or a baby bottle. Everything had to be soft, rounded, no harsh edges.
